Rooted in Presence: The synergy of breath and thought

There is a simplicity to being a field of possibility that can easily get overlooked.

Presence in the moment offers clarity.

When present our senses expand, we hear, see, smell, taste, feel more.

When present we think less. We think fresh.

When present we breathe slower, deeper, calmer.

We are born present to our experience in each moment. We don't wonder why? We just express.

The flow of thought and breathe eases through us. We don't judge ourselves for crying, pooing, or smiling, it just is. We don't compare ourselves to others or how we wish things could be. We don't suffer depression or anxiety.

We pick up habits as we grow and adapt. Habitual thought and breathe patterns that stifle our natural flow.

Have you noticed how your breath and thought is connected? Take a moment... think about being knocked into by someone. What happened to your breath?

Now think of lying in a hammock under a tree. What happened to your breath?

Our breath responds to what we are thinking.

Moreover, the quality of our breathing reflects the quality of our state of mind. Busy mind = shorter breath. Deeper breath = relaxed mind.

Both powers are always available to us, the power of breath and the power of thought.

There are plenty of great practises and techniques out there to strengthen the breathe and modify thinking: from the variety of pranayamas practised in yoga, to the recently popular Wim hoff method, cognitive behavioural therapy, meditation and mindfulness practises.

And what if it was just enough to know the symbiosis: Upset breathe = upset mind, gentle breath = gentle mind.

The perfect antidote to a busy mind is to notice the sensation of your breathe, feel it expand your body and simultaneously release your uptight mind.

In this expanded state you get to be more of a field of possibility.
